California Dreamin’
I live in California. There’s a lot to love, from the weather to the diversity to the FOOD! The food, my friends. The food. And it’s not just me– these people agree that when it comes to food, California is tough to beat! I was particularly impressed to learn that California produces half the nation’s supply of fruits, vegetables, and nuts! WOW! That makes the whole “eating local and fresh” thing so much more enticing!
I’m sure you’ve heard it before: eat organic, eat local, eat fresh. It’s not just for hippies or hipsters anymore– groceries stores everywhere are reflecting the increasing demand for fresh, local, and organic products. I can get behind that. And so can a lot of other people, apparently. For example, over the last few years, I’ve been hearing more and more about juice bars: cafés serving freshly prepared fruit juices. It’s a thing. And why not? There are few things more satisfying than sipping exquisitely fresh, tasty, and healthy juice!
I have a feeling most of my readers are not from California, though. Wouldn’t it be nice to get some fresh-pressed, made-to-order, organic, locally-sourced, raw, California-sunshined juice delivered to your doorstep… tomorrow?

Organic, local, raw, delicious juice!
You see, a couple weeks ago, I ran into my old friend Kevin at a baby birthday party. It was a perfect summer afternoon and we were all enjoying some finger-lickin’ delicious barbecue when Kevin casually mentioned he’d brought in some fresh-pressed juice from his new business, Uber Fresh. YUMMM FRESH-PRESSED JUICE! I was all over it. I chose the C++, as I am a sucker for all things grapefruit.
It did not disappoint. It was a big bottle, but I had no trouble gulping down that refreshing goodness: orange, grapefruit, lemon, honey. As I guzzled, he told me about how the ingredients were organic (no chemicals), locally sourced (California produce!), and raw. Raw, as opposed to pasteurized. He explained how most juices that you buy at the grocery store can sit on a shelf for weeks, which is only possible because of all the processing they have undergone. A little research on Uber Fresh’s website taught me that this is done by “applying intense pressure that ruptures the cell walls of all lifeforms, including beneficial bacteria that is key to a healthy digestive system.” This is necessary for transporting/selling juice that needs a long shelf life, but you lose out on so many of the healthful benefits of fresh juice.
True, I’m not always the healthiest eater… but I AM all about delicious things! And I wouldn’t share anything with you that I wouldn’t personally want to consume again and again. And this, I would. I’ve never tried a juice cleanse, but when I do, this is the way to do it. I mean, check out these flavor combinations: 
Does that not sound amazing? Makes me wanna work out just so I can hop off the treadmill and take a few swigs of this muscle-making beverage. So. Cool. I am sipping some as I type (thanks, Kevin!), and it is sensational! Fresh-pressed creamy, cool, perfectly sweet liquid down my throat. Mm-mm!
Then there’s Kickstarter: carrot, pineapple, apple, lemon. Carrot and apple juice have always been one of my favorite combinations, so I know I’m gonna like this one. What about you?
